Best Auckland Playgrounds for Crawling Babies
When your baby starts crawling, you wish for eyes in the back of your head. Getting outside is always easier than staying in at this stage, so their focus can be on something unfamiliar and exciting. We've put together a guide to the best Auckland playgrounds for crawling babies, so they can explore new textures and sensations, while everyone enjoys the benefits of some fresh air.
What makes a playground good for crawling babies?
Soft rubber or sand surfaces, in-ground trampolines, low to the ground sensory equipment, and baby swings are the hot hits at this stage. The playgrounds below all tick those boxes and are guaranteed to keep your little one occupied.
Potters Park, Takapuna
Potters Park in Takapuna is one of our favourites for small kids and great for crawlers, with a tunnel, small slide and a low net climbing frame for babies pulling up to standing. The ground is mostly rubber and grass, and there's a huge tree with big roots to explore. Toilets, cafes nearby and easy parking.
Bonair Playground, Silverdale
Bonair Playground in Silverdale is mostly rubber ground with no bark, which is great for crawlers. There are in-ground trampolines for exploring, a basket swing, and plenty of open space. Older babies might enjoy the toddler slide area with some help, since there are hand and foot holds to get to the top. Toilets are onsite too.
Marlborough Park Playground, Glenfield
Marlborough Park is one of our top picks for crawling babies and toddlers. The ground is soft rubber, and there are in-ground trampolines, baby swings, tunnels and sensory play that is low to the ground. There's also plenty of grassy space for a picnic, plus toilets and parking.
