8 Top Picks for Halloween in Auckland 2026

Is it just us, or is Halloween getting bigger and better every year?

While trick-or-treating can be a bit hit or miss depending on your suburb, lots of places around Auckland are set to come alive with spooky (and some not-so-spooky) decorations to make Saturday 31 October a blast for kids and adults alike.

We’ve cherry-picked some events across the city if you’re in need of inspiration, and for even more visit the Roam with Kids app for many other local events to put on your radar.

East Auckland

Howick Historical Village Festival of Frights

The Festival of Frights is back in 2026 at Howick Historical Village! Visit after dark on Friday 30 October or their dedicated Fright Night, or for Halloween at the Village on Saturday 31 October. Kids can trick or treat around the village, visit spooked out locations like the Haunted House and Church Graveyard and of course stop by the lolly shop. Bring a picnic rug - there will be food trucks onsite.

Halloween at The Franklin

Visit The Franklin Tap House on Saturday 31 October to check out their Halloween Market. They’ll have a bouncy castle, trick or treating at the stalls and a lolly scramble for the kids, plus live music and Halloween-themed cocktails for the grown ups.

Central Auckland

Spooky Space at Stardome Observatory

Head along to Stardome Observatory and catch the Spooky Space planetarium show, sessions beginning at 3.30pm. It’s best suited to kids 6+, and explores some of the strangest, spookiest corners of the cosmos!

West Auckland

Halloween at Hobsonville Point

Halloween always goes off in Hobsonville Point. Head along to the back courtyard at Hobsonville Point Primary School for face painting and photos, then grab a map to take a tour around the highly decorated neighbourhood.

Light Party at Corban Arts Estate

For the kids who aren’t fans of the spooky decorations, head along to Corban Arts Estate to the Light Party with games, inflatables and activities without the scare factor.

North Auckland

The Postman’s Leg Kids’ Halloween Party

Book a table (or try your luck walking in) at The Postman’s Leg in Glenfield for their Kids’ Halloween Party. As well as your favourite pub bites, there will be a bouncy castle, face painting, entertainers and Halloween treats!

Halloween Spooktacular Family Disco

For a whiz around the dance floor, head along to the Halloween Spooktacular Family Disco in Stanmore Bay for a family friendly night of costumes, dancing and prizes.

South Auckland

Spookers Candy Hunt for Kids

For the bravest souls, Spookers Theme Park is holding a Candy Hunt for Kids on Halloween during daylight hours. It’s aimed at kids 8+, and their spooky actors are present handing out candy in The Woods, instead of terrifying everyone in sight.

Ōtara Light Party 2026

The Ōtara Kai Village is hosting a non-spooky Halloween alternative in the centre of Ōtara with activities, entertainment and kai! Head along to check out the lights from 5.30pm on Saturday 31 October.
