10 Activities To Do With Kids This Spring In Auckland

See baby lambs in Auckland

There’s always something special about seeing baby animals up close. There are lots of options in Auckland including free options like Ambury Farm in Mangere and Cornwall Park in Epsom, as well as paid spots like Sheepworld in Warkworth and Kiwi Valley Farm in Henderson Valley.

Some places may still have opportunities to bottle feed the lambs, however many will be fully weaned by October. If this is an experience you’re looking for, don’t wait, and call ahead before you go.

Last chance for Night at the Museum

Grab your torch and head to the Auckland Museum for a night of scavenger hunting, hands-on activities and larger-than-life performers amongst museum treasures. Sessions run until 10 October 2026.

Check out a stage production

Stage production season is here!

Over the holidays there are child-specific performances through the We The Young Festival, but smaller theatres are also a great option, like Shrek the Musical in Papakura, Mr Fungus in Onehunga, or Marigold, Monkey and Misery Manor in Western Springs.

BNZ Kāhu Professional Women’s Basketball

BNZ Kāhu are battling it out this spring, and you can catch their family-friendly home games all the way through until 20 November 2026. Most of the games begin early afternoon and there are often giveaways and fun family activities happening too!

Sail on the Ted Ashby

If it’s a beautiful day, take a sail on Ted Ashby at the Maritime Museum!

There are two one hour sailing trips each day Tuesday to Sunday, and the museum also holds free Make Days every Sunday, where tamariki can make a craft to take home.

Adventure out on the City Rail Link

Make it a bigger adventure by catching the City Rail Link into the city. There’s something about trains that gets kids excited, and the new tunnels and underground stations are intriguing to explore. Check the new stations out for yourself too!

Picnic amongst the cherry blossoms

Pack a picnic and head to Cornwall Park or the Botanic Gardens to see their cherry blossom trees in full bloom! Both are lovely gardens to walk around.

Grab a sweet deal at an indoor playground

If the weather is awful, hit up an indoor playground to burn off excess energy. Roam app subscribers get freebies and discounts in many locations like Adventure Alley, My Wonderland, as well as Chipmunks Westgate and Henderson.

Check out a new walking track

There are heaps of new walking tracks on the Roam with Kids app, like the new Te Whau coastal boardwalk around Te Atatu South. Some of our other faves that are good for little legs include the Cascade Kauri Walk (West), Smiths Bush (North Shore), Hunua Falls (South) and Mangemangeroa Reserve (East).

Dinosaur Discovery Trail at Auckland Zoo

If you haven’t been to the Zoo in a while, take a visit! Even if you saw the dinosaurs in their last season, the 2026 exhibition has new species and baby dinos. The animatronic dinosaurs move and roar, but they also hold ‘quiet times’ every Tuesday morning and the first Sunday of every month between 9.30am-11.00am.

Get more inspiration on the Roam with Kids app with full itineraries, events near you, new playgrounds and family-friendly eateries all in one place.
